One Paved Court is run by artists for artists. We support artists wanting to show innovative, challenging work.

Our architect-designed gallery is in a Georgian building in the heart of Richmond with a shopfront on a busy pedestrian lane off Richmond Green. The gallery is on the ground and first floors and is light and domestic in scale, with integral hanging system and specialist track lighting.

We run a programme of 3-week artist-led exhibitions, providing artists with an opportunity to show their work in a professional gallery setting, planned with the support of gallery staff. We offer artists the chance to create and participate in ambitious, challenging exhibitions and events. We will showcase your work both in our gallery, and on-line on our website, in our newsletter and on our social media. You will have access to our network of visitors who appreciate the chance to visit and exchange views.

We are dedicated to bringing art by a diverse range of artists to as wide an audience as possible and believe that everyone benefits from such an approach. We will actively promote diversity and eliminate unfair discrimination, ensuring that our space is as inclusive and welcoming as possible.

Submissions are welcomed from solo or small groups of artists working in any media. Regular ‘Open Calls’ are issued on social media, but you may submit a proposal at any time.

Selection Criteria:

Artists are chosen based on strength of ideas and quality of work.

We particularly welcome artists whose work focuses on relevant concerns in contemporary art practice, who would like the opportunity to experiment and push their work without commercial constraints, and who use varied media such as film, sound and installation as well as painting, drawing and sculpture.

One Paved Court’s ethos is to give visitors the opportunity to engage directly with artists, and so we give preference to artists whose work has a particular focus on community engagement and are planning to offer workshops during their show.

Every selected artist will be expected to give either an artist’s talk or a more informal ‘Meet the Artist’ event.

Our artist-led shows suit early to mid-career working artists, who are not regularly represented by a gallery.  We welcome shows from all artists regardless of sex, age, race, disability, sexual orientation, or religion.

We particularly encourage applications from people from black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds, as these groups are currently under-represented in our programme.

Proposals go through a rigorous selection process by our panel, from which we curate a varied cohesive programme of exhibitions to engage and challenge our audience.

How to Submit:

Please email a PDF with your proposal for a show. This should include a title and a statement about your show in under 400 words; a maximum of 4 images (or 2 per artist for a group show); a cv/bio and a link to your website(s).

Our artist-led shows are based on a discounted fixed fee, which is a contribution to our overheads. Our marketing and PR is given free. Please contact us for details of our current rates and Terms & Conditions.
