White Noise Projects

May – Sept 2024

A Series of Exhibitions curated by Hanna ten Doornkaat and Buffy Kimm

Spectrum: 10 – 22* September

In collaboration with Artist Support Pledge founder, Matthew Burrows and other invited artists including Paul Furneaux, Tom Cartmill, Kate Boucher, amongst others.

White Noise Projects have partnered with Matthew Burrows to expand the generous principles of the Artist Support Pledge scheme into a physical space. The artists will be joined by almost fifty contemporaries to fill the gallery with affordable art ranging from photography and painting to ceramics and small sculptures.

With submissions from across the country and with styles ranging from monochrome abstracts to photorealistic drawings and everything in between, the exhibition reflects the broad range of creative output from established and lesser known artists currently working in London and beyond. With some works inspired by nature, others resulting from discarded or decorative objects displayed alongside works with more serious undertones, Spectrum brings a kaleidoscopic and fun mini-art-fair experience to One Paved Court.

The artists pledge to re-invest a proportion of their sales in art, so visitors are invited to enter the circle of generosity by picking up a fine art bargain. The works selected for Spectrum will be available exclusively from the gallery for the duration of the show.

Particle Zoo: 3 May – 2 June

A residency and exhibition by Sandra Beccarelli.

With Particle Zoo Sandra Beccarelli blurs the lines between exhibition and artist residency by showing a finished body of work alongside work in progress, with visitors playing an active role in determining the direction of the latter.  Sandra will occupy the gallery’s upper space and provide visitors an opportunity to gain an insight into her creative process.

Meditations and Repetitions: 4 – 16 June

A joint exhibition by Buffy Kimm & Doris Ernst

Contemporary paintings, mixed media and paper works that express the meditative and repetitive method of their creation.

Possible Impossibilities: 18 – 30 June

A collaborative exhibition of mixed media artist Hanna ten Doornkaat and Dutch photographer Shiba Huizer.

While their artistic styles diverge significantly, their collaboration illustrates the aphorism ‘opposites attract’.  The exhibition echoes Aristotle’s belief in the probability of impossibilities by emphasising the allure and by embracing the concept of likely impossibilities over improbable possibilities.

Chromatic Journey: 18 – 30 June

A solo exhibition by Jennifer Talbot

Taking inspiration from the history of art, from the energy and intuitive process of action painting to the pictorial depth and resistance to boundaries of baroque painting, Jennifer also recruits colour, from the pastel tones of mannerist paintings to the fluorescent manmade pigments of contemporary art.

Recollect: 2 – 14 July

Solo exhibitions by Anna Bingham & Annamarie Dzendrowskyj

A dialogue between contemporary ceramics and paintings, ethereal visions of the world around us.

Seascapes: 16 – 28 July

A solo exhibition by Liz Gilbert

Ephemeral works, abstracted perceptions of the sea, on different papers in different mediums, print and oil paint, photographs and film.

Traces: 2 – 8 September

Solo exhibitions by Loraine Monk and Rachel Pearcey

Loraine Monk (ground floor) presents woodcuts that trace the history of social dissent, protest, politics and resistance. Textile artist Rachel Pearcey (first floor) stitches marks on to second-hand, vintage and antique fabrics. These marks often take the form of words: feminist, political, scathing, poetic, sometimes even humorous.
