Submitting a Proposal

Selection Criteria
Artists are chosen based on strength of ideas and quality of work.
We particularly welcome artists whose work focuses on relevant concerns in contemporary art practice, who would like the opportunity to experiment and push their work without commercial constraints, and who use varied media such as film, sound and installation as well as painting, drawing and sculpture.
One Paved Court’s ethos is to give visitors the opportunity to engage directly with artists, and so we give preference to artists whose work has a particular focus on community engagement and are planning to offer workshops during their show.
Every selected artist will be expected to give either an artist’s talk or a more informal ‘Meet the Artist’ event.
Our artist-led shows suit early to mid-career working artists, who are not regularly represented by a gallery. We welcome shows from all artists regardless of sex, age, race, disability, sexual orientation, or religion. We particularly encourage applications from people from black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds, as these groups are currently under-represented in our programme.
Proposals go through a rigorous selection process by our panel, from which we curate a varied cohesive programme of exhibitions to engage and challenge our audience.
