Reimagining the human figure as a dynamic, emotional landscape through expressive, gestural forms and diverse media.

‘Living Lines’ is a solo exhibition that explores the expressive potential of the human figure through a collection of abstract paintings and drawings. Blurring the boundary between body and emotion, the works on display reinterpret the figure in fragmented, gestural forms that evoke movement, vulnerability, and inner tension. Using a diverse range of mediums—including acrylic, pastel, ink, and mixed media —the artist investigates the tension between control and spontaneity, structure and dissolution. Each piece invites viewers to contemplate the complexities of identity and presence, revealing the figure not as a static form, but as a shifting, emotional landscape.

About the Artist:

Born in 1964, Judith is a contemporary artist living and working in London. She has a BA(Hons) in Fine Art from Manchester Metropolitan University, also having completed a year on Newlyn School of Art Mentoring Scheme and Falmouth School of Art Summer Intensives. She held a residency at Brisons Veor Residency, Cape Cornwall. Last year she completed a year at Turps Art School on their Offsite Painting Programme.

She lives in Isleworth and works from Kindred Studios in North Kensington. She also teaches life drawing and runs mixed media workshops. Judith’s work is held in Private Collections in the UK, Australia, US, Europe and Israel.

Her abstract paintings use the notion of alchemy to respond to her environment and life experiences. On a search for strength and freedom, she channels the immediacy of mark-making from life- drawing, sketches, and collages into abstraction.

She strives to convert the energy, emotion and movement that the human body generates, especially through the medium of dance.

For the artist, painting is a physical journey that takes her in and out of the picture plane, in the way that one might use choreography.

“Judith Brenner’s recent work is abstract and uses mixed media, drawing on an intense exploration of her emotions and reactions to places, memories, and events. This seems to be a very personal and private experience…”
