A series of new paintings and mixed media collages by Judith Brenner inspired by her travels in Marrakesh.

Travel is Judith Brenner’s muse. Inspired by exploration of the different hues of life to make her work, she is motivated to engage with diverse cultures, to explore antiquities, to observe the essence and structure of a foreign city, to lose herself in the rituals of its daily life. Travel provokes her to engage with life on the move. Having a limited time in a new environment, Judith creates works that express how quickly things change.

The artist chose Marrakesh for its colour, the contrast of the hustle and bustle of the streets against the cool, calm of internal spaces, and for its ancient and historic buildings with its labyrinths of alleyways and busy markets. To make this new collection of work, Judith Brenner immersed herself in the unique palette, capturing the warm hues of life there.

Motherhood has also taught Judith to grab each moment, and these fleeting engagements with another life have been a part of what helps her create in such a unique way. Life is never particularly settled; it’s always moving and forcing change.  Judith aims to create paintings and collages with a truth and rawness.

“Judith Brenner’s recent work is abstract and uses mixed media, drawing on an intense exploration of her emotions and reactions to places, memories, and events. This seems to be a very personal and private experience…”

Sylvie Gomenzano, advisor, curator and Chair of the Association of Woman Art Dealers. Rivertribe Magazine 2018
